This year, the platform is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/tiktok-shop-drives-social-commerce-growth\/807665\/\">cross $20 billion in sales<\/a>, which would make it larger than eBay and a focal point of the social commerce landscape.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already, TikTok has quietly accrued a lot of institutional buy-in. The social app has partnered with Westfield Malls to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/news\/tiktok-out-of-phone-westfield-malls-rockbot\/756324\">show its content in physical stores<\/a>, and it is <a href=\"https:\/\/digiday.com\/marketing\/tiktok-is-talking-to-brands-like-its-a-grocer-now\/\">starting to position itself<\/a> as a source of food purchases. Major CPG brands like Mars and Coca-Cola have joined the likes of Maybelline and Gap on the platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other big brands are expanding their TikTok presence, too. Clorox, for instance, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecloroxcompany.com\/blog\/going-social-first-with-the-launch-of-tiktok-shops\/\">launching<\/a> more TikTok Shops across its brands, after a successful launch with Burt\u2019s Bees in 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With TikTok Shop poised for another big year, it\u2019s worth examining the state of TikTok Shop\u2014and where and how your business can fit in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-sell-on-tiktok-shop-nbsp\"><strong>Why sell on TikTok Shop?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few obvious reasons why brands decide to start selling on TikTok Shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The young audience, for one. On TikTok, you get access to a younger and more impulse-purchase-oriented group of shoppers than you can find pretty much anywhere.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your product is distinctly visual, e.g. clothes or makeup, TikTok also lends itself well to being able to display it in an entirely new way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But one of the big reasons to launch on TikTok Shop is that it\u2019ll get your product into TikTok\u2019s affiliate marketing system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through TikTok, qualified users that mention your product in a video can direct their followers to a purchase page for it, and earn commissions on sales. That is, <em>if<\/em> the brand has a TikTok Shop.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you sell your product on TikTok Shop, in other words, you just help entice TikTokers to talk about your brand more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you don\u2019t build a sophisticated marketing strategy, regular TikTokers have an incentive to push scrollers toward your products, since they can earn commissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other reasons to sell on TikTok Shop include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Livestreaming<\/strong>: You can use the platform\u2019s popular livestreaming feature to showcase your product in a new way. This is especially helpful if your product is very visual.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Creator power: <\/strong>TikTok lets you feature your product alongside influential digital creators, and the partnership opportunities are immense. No need to build new product pages or SKUs from scratch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-if-i-m-an-amazon-first-brand-nbsp\"><strong>What if I\u2019m an Amazon-first brand?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, let\u2019s get the elephant out of the room. For most people reading this, TikTok Shop will\u2014even if it goes well\u2014only represent a tiny sliver of their overall business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to Amazon, TikTok is very much an also-ran. To make your investments on the platform as valuable as possible, you want to make sure you successfully intertwine your TikTok and Amazon strategies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to partnering with influencers, you might consider using Amazon Creator Connections, a searchable database that connects brands with Amazon-affiliated influencers who post on various channels, including TikTok.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Amazon Creator Connections, rather than waiting around for influencers to post about your product on their own, you can directly set up campaigns, and make them available to creators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Craft a budget, timeline, and a commission percentage for these campaigns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, you can push them out to eligible creators.
