{"id":29378,"date":"2025-10-27T13:42:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T21:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/blog\/?p=29378"},"modified":"2025-10-27T13:42:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T21:42:02","slug":"amazon-dsps-next-phase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/blog\/amazon-dsp\/amazon-dsps-next-phase\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon DSP\u2019s next phase","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon DSP just quietly got a lot of new inventory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last few months, Amazon has <a href=\"https:\/\/digiday.com\/marketing\/with-microsoft-in-tow-amazons-dsp-tightens-its-grip-on-the-open-web\/\">expanded<\/a> its DSP reach to include streaming TV platforms like Netflix, Disney, and Roku and audio platforms like Spotify and SiriusXM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are big, A-list names in media, and now any Amazon DSP advertiser can access them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plus, not only can you run video and audio ads on these platforms, but you can also measure how they fit into your customer journey, using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/learning-hub\/amazon-marketing-cloud?utm_campaign=LinkedIn_Newsletter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=linkedin&amp;utm_content=Anchor\">Amazon Marketing Cloud<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, with Amazon DSP, you can now track how a Spotify ad impression leads to a branded search on Amazon, which then leads to a sale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Premium ad inventory and better measurement are great. But here\u2019s who the Amazon DSP expansion is really going to serve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-different-about-amazon-dsp-now-nbsp\"><strong>What is different about Amazon DSP now?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a long time, there was a relatively limited selection of DSP ad inventory. Think display ads on third-party sites and streaming ads on Amazon-owned platforms like Prime Video.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could also, of course, layer on streaming ads on the handful of secondary marketplaces, like Paramount+ ads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the premium ad inventory was always missing. What the addition of Disney, Spotify, and Netflix to the DSP means is that your ads can now surface in the non-Amazon-owned spaces where the typical person usually spends their time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019re no longer restricted to third-party websites and Amazon-owned platforms. You can now reach regular people on the most-used apps on their phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-does-the-new-amazon-dsp-inventory-benefit-nbsp\"><strong>Who does the new Amazon DSP inventory benefit?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon DSP can work effectively across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/blog\/amazon-dsp\/3-pillars-of-an-incremental-amazon-dsp-strategy\/\">all parts of the funnel<\/a>, including by converting shoppers who are in the consideration phase with your brand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But running DSP ads on Netflix or Spotify is much more of an awareness-first play than anything. The brand that will benefit most from this new inventory is the one that wants to build awareness using big, tentpole ads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, with this inventory expansion in mind, who is Amazon DSP right for?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We talked a little bit about when to use Amazon DSP in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/lunch-hour-webinars\/audit-or-be-audited-the-monthly-amazon-audit-to-minimize-wasted-spend\">our recent webinar<\/a> on auditing. Go watch for that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But ultimately, it does make sense to ensure you\u2019ve invested substantially in Sponsored Ads before you migrate to DSP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of DSP is about creating new branded searches on Amazon. So you want to make sure you\u2019ve exhausted your branded search spend before you switch to DSP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You also want to be sure you have a handle on the financials of DSP ads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Think about profitability<\/strong>. If you aren\u2019t able to track instantly how DSP ads fit into a customer journey, you won\u2019t be able to assess which campaigns are worth the effort, and which are not.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-this-mean-for-amazon-nbsp\"><strong>What does this mean for Amazon?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the Amazon angle, these flashy new DSP partnerships reveal something fundamental about the company\u2019s aspirations around advertising, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Big picture, Amazon seems intent on becoming the starting place for your e-commerce advertising needs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all know the problem of running ads across so many different platforms.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon is integrating more and more of these channels into its own ecosystem.
