There are some considerations to ponder over before you make this decision.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you a\u00a0startup?<\/li>\n<li>Are you an enterprise?<\/li>\n<li>Somewhere between a startup and an enterprise?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a startup, you are better off if you just start on the cloud on day zero. There are numerous benefits that I would like to list out for this suggestion.<\/p>\n<p>First I would like to list out a few reasons that we have heard and come across while dealing with all sorts of companies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I have financial information for which cloud is NOT\u00a0suited<\/li>\n<li>I have to strict regulations that I need to adhere\u00a0to.<\/li>\n<li>The cloud provider is my competitor<\/li>\n<li>My senior management doesn&#8217;t believe in the cloud<\/li>\n<li>Cloud is NOT\u00a0secure<\/li>\n<li>Cloud is expensive<\/li>\n<li>Cloud is NOT reliable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are our reasons to go to the cloud and what you get by going to the cloud?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Faster innovation.<\/em><\/strong> Focus on what your core business should do rather than managing the infrastructure to run your business.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Cost-Effectiveness<\/em><\/strong>\u2013 Pay for what you use vs Pay for what you buy and keep on\u00a0buying.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Secure Cloud Providers<\/em><\/strong>\u200a\u2014\u200aCloud vendors stay up to date on the latest technology and devote more time and personnel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\/blog\/technology\/cloudflare-security-bug\/\">security<\/a> than any smaller business can\u00a0do.<\/p>\n<figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1265\" src=\"https:\/\/intentwise.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Cloud-Numbers.png\" alt=\"Cloud Numbers\" width=\"799\" height=\"390\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>We @intentwise take data security very seriously<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Everything is https (including our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intentwise.com\">website<\/a> )<\/li>\n<li>We work mainly with <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/security\/\">AWS<\/a>. Amazon has an incredible amount of resources to dedicate to IT security, much more so than companies with smaller budgets.<\/li>\n<li>We work with partners who are certified in the areas of SOC2 and\u00a0HIPAA<\/li>\n<li>2-factor Authentication available for our customer-facing tools.<\/li>\n<li>Our data and our customer data is housed in a Datastore which is bound by all security certifications.<\/li>\n<li>Our applications always access the data through SSL and ssh\u00a0tunnels.<\/li>\n<li>The data is NOT accessible through other channels other than our applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Few areas to review if you are NOT using\u00a0cloud<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Do I have enough DevOps and IT resources to support our infrastructure?<\/li>\n<li>Can I innovate faster in both our core business focused and nonbusiness focused areas(IT, DevOps).<\/li>\n<li>Can I expand globally without incurring huge costs and resources to manage our infrastructure?<\/li>\n<li>Do I have enough redundancy and disaster recovery plan in\u00a0place?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the end, it&#8217;s up to each of the business and technology leaders to strategize on the usage of cloud and cloud services. There are many large Billion $ companies that are built purely on public clouds and some which use hybrid cloud or private cloud.
